Troubleshooting

How do I descale my Philips coffee machine?

To descale the appliance, please follow the steps below:

Regular descaling prolongs the life of the appliance and guarantees optimal brewing results for a long time.

In case of normal use (two brewing cycles a day), descale the appliance:

  • Every two months if you use soft water (up to 18dH) or filtered water
  • Every month if you use hard water (over 18dH)

To descale your appliance, we advise you to use white vinegar (up to max 8% acetic acid), as other products may damage your coffee maker.

Descaling procedure:

  1. Fill the water tank with white vinegar
  2. Put a paper filter in the filter holder to collect the scale
  3. Switch on the appliance and let it brew until the water tank is empty.
  4. Once the appliance is finished, switch off the appliance and let it cool down for 3 minutes and remove the paper filter.
  5. Repeat step 1-5 once more.
Note: (do not re-use the vinegar to fill the water tank again.)
  6. Fill the water tank with fresh cold water.
  7. Switch on the appliance and let it brew until the water tank is empty.
  8. Switch off the appliance and let it cool down for 3 minutes.
  9. Repeat step 6 – 9
    Note:
Repeat step 9 until the water in the jug no longer tastes or smells like vinegar.
  10. Clean all the parts in a dishwasher or with some washing up liquid.
  11. End of descaling procedure.
